The main design features of the Australian Standard cover: the spaces between vertical bars (50-85 mm); the distances from the top of the mattress to top of cot side (not to be less than 500 mm); the space between bottom rail of the dropside and the mattress base (between 12 and 30 mm); the space between mattress and cot sides or ends (less than 25 mm); no limb entrapment spaces (spaces of 30 to 50 mm); secure locking mechanism that resists the child on the dropside; only two legs with castors, if four legs are fitted with castors at least two have brakes; no horizontal bars, no transfers, no beading that could cause a choking hazard; a snug fitting mattress.
